The number of operating drilling rigs in the US has dropped to 760 units. This follows from data released on February 17 by Baker Hughes.
During the week of February 10-17, the number of active US drilling rigs decreased by one, to 760 units.
This week, the total number of oil rigs dropped by two to 607. The number of gas rigs increased by one to 151.
In the Permian Basin, the number of operating drilling rigs remained at 352.
Remember that a sharp decline in the number of drilling rigs began after the fall in oil prices and demand. Prior to the March 13, 2020 crash, 792 drilling rigs were operating in the US, of which 683 were oil rigs.
On August 14, 2020, the number of active rigs dropped to a local low of 244 units, after which there was unsteady growth with setbacks.
