A PSP agent was attacked at the Baixa de Coimbra police station this Sunday morning. The attacker is a 37-year-old man who usually hangs around the historic district of Coimbra and is known to the authorities.
The man went to the police station to ask for help calling his mother, who lives in the Lausã area, so that she could pick him up in the city of Coimbra. Since he had been hit in the neck, he was asked how he had been injured, and that was when he began punching and kicking one of the police officers on duty.
The 53-year-old police officer was left with several bruises on his head, face, arms and legs, which is why he had to be hospitalized. The officer has already been fired, but he cannot return to work, which is why he is on sick leave.
According to CMThe attacker’s neck injury was reportedly caused by a self-inflicted injury.
