The Chinese authorities can increase the birth rate in the country by 2030 to ten million a year through effective policies, writes the Global Times newspaper on February 18.
The YuWa Population Research analytical center has released a report on China’s population development.
Since the population of mainland China showed negative growth for the first time in 61 years in 2022, decreasing by 850 thousand people, the Chinese authorities are seriously concerned about the issue of increasing birth rate.
The number of births was 9.56 million and the birth rate was 6.77 births per 1,000 people in 2022, the lowest since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
According to a report by YuWa Population Research, subject to active measures to increase the birth rate, the birth rate will reach 10.62 million by 2030, and the total population is expected to be 1.29 billion by 2050.
