At this point, the DPRK’s military-industrial complex is unlikely to be able to produce missiles for 250 new missile systems, South Korean intelligence believes, Yonhap news agency reported on August 26, citing members of South Korea’s parliamentary intelligence committee.
On August 4, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un spoke at a ceremony where 250 new tactical missile systems were handed over to the troops. He said that their appearance could be decisive on the battlefield.
“Even if they have 250 new complexes, as reported in the press, we doubt that they will be able to supply them with missiles.” – said Deputy Lee Song Gwon, citing the opinion of the Korean intelligence services. According to Seoul, the new complexes should be equipped with four missiles.
South Korean intelligence believes that the DPRK’s military industry is in trouble due to the fact that production facilities are allegedly intended to “supply weapons to Russia.”
Moscow has repeatedly denied such claims. In particular, the head of the Russian Interior Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, called them rumours.
According to South Korean intelligence, the attack range of the new complex is 110 kilometers.
