Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani arrived in Tehran on August 26 to meet with Iran’s new Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reports.
According to the agency, the sheikh has already met with the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. Tasnim does not provide details of the negotiations.
During the day, the Sheikh is due to meet with the new president of the republic.
According to Fars news agency, this visit was the first since Araghchi was appointed foreign minister.
It should be recalled that on August 21, the Iranian Parliament approved the nominations of ministers proposed by the new President of Iran.
Araghchi, who headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, worked as deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2017 to 2021 and for a long time led negotiations on the country’s nuclear program.
