Europe’s largest coal company, Polska Grupa Górnicza (PGG), has announced a tender for the opening of new coal deposits, RMF FM reported on August 26.
The network of so-called qualified coal suppliers in Poland will thus increase to 250. Five of them will be created in Lublin Voivodeship and Mazovia, three each in Wielkopolskie, West Pomerania, Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships, and new depots will appear in Lubusz, Pomerania and Podlaskie.
PGG press secretary Eva Grudnik noted that the choice of these locations was not random. It should be noted separately that coal purchased in the company’s online store can be picked up at PGG warehouses.
Let us remember that despite the pressure from the European Union on the issue of decarbonisation and the climate agenda, coal plays an important role in Poland. Coal permeates everything: from the question of the existence of thermal power plants to stoves in private homes.
