47 residents of the Komi Republic gave away 36 million rubles to fraudsters in one week, the press service of the Komi Interior Ministry reported on August 26.
33 out of 47 people knew the methods of deception, but considered themselves capable of resisting them.
For example, a 49-year-old oil worker believed the information about a debt trap that threatened her, as a result of which she lost more than 5 million rubles.
Under the pretext of preventing illegal loan processing, criminals defrauded a 60-year-old kindergarten teacher of more than 2.6 million rubles.
A 30-year-old employee of an educational institution lost 330 thousand rubles, and a university student lost more than 480 credits. They were asked to make money on the Internet by advertising products.
The Ministry of the Interior has called on citizens not to resolve financial problems over the phone, reminding them that there are no “safe accounts” to protect funds.
