The hope that the founder of the Telegram messenger, Pavel Durov, will be given every opportunity to protect himself was expressed by the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, to journalists on August 27.
“We hope that Mr Durov has all the necessary skills to organize his legal defense”“, Peskov stressed.
Recall that the founder of VK and Telegram, Pavel Durov, was arrested on August 24 at the airport in the Parisian suburb of Le Bourget, from where he was flying from Azerbaijan. He was previously put on the wanted list for Telegram’s refusal to cooperate with the authorities, which, according to the French justice system, means its involvement in a number of crimes: terrorism, drug trafficking, fraud and money laundering.
The Russian embassy in France said it would seek respect for Durov’s rights and try to obtain consular access to him, but Paris has yet to engage on this issue.
