A 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence involving aggression and threats with a sharp weapon, the Viseu Public Security Police (PSP) District Headquarters said on Tuesday.
As part of crime prevention through vehicle and foot patrols, Lamego Police Department officers arrested on Monday “a 42-year-old citizen for committing a crime of domestic violence.”
According to a press release, after learning of “an attack on a residential building in the town of Lamego”, in the northern district of Viseu, police “immediately went to the scene”.
“On arrival, the 43-year-old victim was outside her home desperately asking for help and reported that the suspect had violently assaulted her and threatened her with a sharp weapon inside her home, continuing the attacks on public roads.”
PSP said the suspect “was on scene, visibly altered and aggressive, in a hostile posture, threatening the victim despite the presence of police, and therefore an arrest warrant was issued for him.”
The detainee will appear this Tuesday at the Lamego Court.
