A residential area in downtown Damascus was attacked by Israeli air forces early Sunday morning, citing Syrian state media on February 19, the Associated Press reported.
Syrian state news agency SANA, citing a source in the Damascus police department, said the number of dead and injured was not specified.
At around 00:30 local time, loud explosions were heard over the capital; according to SANA, Syrian air defense “enemy targets engaged in the skies around Damascus”.
Israel has yet to comment on this incident.
Israeli air strikes are often carried out against targets in the vicinity of Damascus.
The last attack on Damascus was on January 2, when the Syrian army reported that the Israeli military fired rockets at the international airport of the Syrian capital at dawn, incapacitating it, killing two and wounding two more soldiers.
