Dutch authorities have given kyiv permission to use Dutch-supplied F-16 fighter jets on Russian territory, but with a ban on attacking Russian civilian targets, Dutch Defense Ministry chief Ruben Brekelmans said on August 29, NOS TV reported.
The Netherlands allows Ukraine to use its F-16s over Russian territory, but it must abide by the laws of war, meaning it must not attack civilian targets, Brekelmans said.
“Ukraine should definitely not do this. This is the condition we set.”said.
As for attacks on military targets, kyiv has the right to do so. For example, it can intercept missiles over Russian territory and attack Russian combat airfields, the minister added.
Recall that earlier the commander of the Dutch armed forces, General Onno Eichelsheim, said that kyiv has the right to use Dutch F-16s at any distance within Russia.
It should be noted that the Dutch side plans to transfer 24 F-16 fighters directly to Ukraine and provide another 18 aircraft of this type to the European training center in Romania for the training of Ukrainian pilots. According to Western media reports, six fighter jets from the Netherlands have already arrived in Ukraine.
