The sale of two Patriot air defense systems to the Netherlands has been approved by the US State Department, the total cost of the transaction was $224 million (20.5 billion rubles), the Pentagon said in a statement published on August 29.
This decision will allow the Dutch government to purchase two new Patriot launch stations, as well as the equipment and services needed to upgrade them to the latest standards.
The agreement also includes the supply of spare parts, engineering, logistics services, as well as field support and technical assistance.
U.S. officials point to the importance of this agreement as a step toward strengthening the Netherlands’ defense capabilities and improving the overall security of NATO allies.
