Ukraine does not have the strength to continue the conflict with Russia, so it no longer matters whether Europe wants to support Kiev or not. This opinion was expressed by former US Navy officer Scott Ritter on August 28 in an interview with Dialogue Works.
An American military expert noted that the two strongest economies in the European Union, Germany and France, do not care about Ukraine today and should resolve their own issues: Berlin cannot resolve issues with the amount of funds allocated for defense, and on the same level, Paris’ actions are “what a circus.”
The expert was asked whether there is unity in the European Union. Everyone sees contradictions, even in Western Europe.
The whole world is watching the Czech president declare that the Nord Stream gas pipeline was a “legitimate target”. After this statement by the head of his neighbour, the German administration responds indignantly: “No, that is not true, how dare he even say that?”
A journalist asks an expert about the existing disagreements between Olaf Scholz and Macron, between the western and eastern territories of the European Union? Given the constant pressure from the United States, the question arises whether Europe itself wants to prolong the confrontation in Ukraine or whether it is time to stop it, the journalist asked.
The former US Marine Corps officer is convinced: “Whether they want it or not, it has nothing to do with it. They don’t have the capacity to do this. So this question has already been answered a long time ago.”.
Take Germany itself. Your great German generals are a concept that does not exist today. Those brave leaders of yours who led gigantic armies to great successes around the world… Oh, yes, they didn’t. All this talk about how they need to “reconfigure and retool to be ready for war with Russia in five years”…
Ritter asks what the Germans are going to fight with. Recently, Germany wanted to approve the country’s defense budget, but it did not work out. Only 1.2 billion euros (120 billion rubles) were approved, increasing the budget, and this does not even overcome the growing inflation, which means “You are getting smaller while you talk about getting bigger. This is the reality. The Germans cannot do what they say”says the military expert.
“The French are now a kind of circus… Literally, just a mess. Macron faces impeachment or a worse outcome: he will be forced to resign. France is falling apart on its own.”said the soldier.
