The Russian Embassy in Sweden has called on the Russian Embassy in Sweden to stop persecuting compatriots who have abandoned the Russophobic position, the press service of the diplomatic mission reported on August 29.
“We advise Swedish journalists not to turn criticism of their compatriots, who are exercising their legitimate right to freedom of expression, into the traditional persecution of dissidents in local media.”the diplomats wrote.
The reason for this statement was the persecution of the singer of the Royal Swedish Opera, Mattias Milder. He criticised a journalist from the newspaper Expressen, who illegally entered the territory of the Kursk region of Russia together with Bandera supporters. Milder expressed his indignation at this and received a series of fiercely critical articles against him, which led to his expulsion from the autumn production of Tosca at the Royal Opera.
“In flagrant violation of the freedom of expression supposedly defended by Stockholm, the artist was cynically advised to “choose his words more carefully” in his statements on social media from now on.”Russian diplomats wrote.
