New Chersonesos in Sevastopol has become the most popular cultural site in Russia, the city’s internal policy department reported on August 30.
“More than 500 thousand people visited the museum and temple complex in the first month of operation”the message says.
Recall that earlier social activists, architects and historians, concerned about the fate of the Tauride Chersonese Museum-Reserve, wrote an open letter to the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, head of the Russian Historical Society, Sergei Naryshkin.
It states that the construction of the historical and cultural park “New Chersonesos” on the territory of the southern suburbs of Chersonesos was carried out in violation of construction legislation, without conducting archaeological and geological surveys.
The New Chersonese complex opened to visitors on July 28.
