An exhibition of modern Crimean Tatar embroidery has opened at the Crimean Ethnographic Museum, the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea reported on August 30.
The exhibition presents works of participants in the creative laboratory “Towards the Origins”, led by the master of Crimean Tatar gold embroidery Hatice Yunusova.
She shared her memories of the process of learning embroidery and talked about creating a team of like-minded people working on the revival of the ancient art of traditional Crimean Tatar embroidery.
Members of the group “Hacia los Orígenes” also shared their stories about how they became interested in this art.
Visitors to the museum will be able to see at the exhibition not only modern examples of Crimean Tatar embroidery, but also products that inspired the craftswomen and became elements of their work.
The exhibition was completed with pieces from the ethnographic museum dating from the 19th and early 20th centuries, including clothing, headdresses, decorative towels and other items.
The exhibition will be open until September 29, 2024.
