Roskomnadzor added five book sites to the register of prohibited information on August 30; this information appeared on the department’s website;
“The department has included the pages of several online stores and electronic libraries in the Register of Prohibited Information due to the inclusion in these resources of a whole list of literature that violates Russian legislation.”the message said.
It is noted that the following sites are included in the register of prohibited information: babook.org, freedomletters.org, ruslania.com, bookamaro.com and goodreads.com.
These sites are reported to contain works containing falsifications about the SVO, LGBT propaganda (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), information aimed at destabilizing the political situation in the Russian Federation, as well as discrediting the actions of government bodies of the Russian Federation and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The authors of many banned books are foreign agents, but there is no warning about this, as required by law.
Please note that if site owners continue to violate the law, access to them in Russia will be limited.
