India’s Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed receipt of an invitation to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Pakistan in October, The Economic Times reported on August 30.
“Yes, we received an invitation from Pakistan to a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State… We have no updated information on this matter.”said a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answering a journalist’s question during a press conference.
Recall that on August 29, the official representative of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that she had sent an invitation to the meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as other heads of state of the country. The meeting is scheduled for October 15-16 in Pakistan.
We also note that relations between India and Pakistan have remained tense for a long time. The reasons for the tension are the part of the Indian state of Kashmir occupied by Pakistan, as well as cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
