Two road accidents have occurred in Sevastopol in the past 24 hours, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry for the city of Sevastopol reported on August 31.
According to preliminary data from the Sevastopol State Traffic Inspectorate, on August 30 at about 18:15, in the area of house 2B on Semipalatinskaya Street, a 17-year-old driver of a BULLET moped failed to give priority to an uncontrolled intersection when leaving a secondary road and collided with a Chevrolet car driven by a 54-year-old vacationer traveling on the main road.
As a result of the accident, a 17-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.
During the investigation of the incident, it was found that the teenager did not have a license to drive a vehicle, which is punishable under Part 1 of Article 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation by a fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles. He was also not wearing a motorcycle protective helmet, for which a fine of 1,000 rubles is provided for under Article 12.6 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation.
The second accident occurred on August 30 at around 20:50 in the area of building 5/3 on the 50 Years of the USSR Square, when a 56-year-old local resident in a SsangYong car hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road at a controlled pedestrian crossing at a prohibitory traffic light, from left to right in the direction of traffic.
As a result of this incident, the woman was taken to hospital, but later died from her injuries. During the investigation, it was found that the driver was sober.
An investigation into this accident is ongoing and the appropriate procedural decision will be taken based on the results.
