“The number of people killed by floods in the country (Nigeria – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna) increased to 195″“, the publication notes.
According to the report, Nigerian emergency management agency representative Manzo Ezekiel has asked people living near the Benue River to evacuate due to rising water levels.
“We are in contact with our staff on the ground, we are receiving information about what is happening and as the flooding continues, the amount of flooding has changed and the death toll has increased.”said Ezekiel.
He added that if the Lagdo dam in Cameroon were to release water, Adamawa State in the north-east of the country would be the most affected. It is home to more than 3 million people. It is not known when this will happen, but water is normally released from this dam at this time of year.
