The tourist flow in Sochi in the summer of 2024 has reached 3.2 million people, exceeding last year’s figures, the city’s mayor Andrei Proshunin announced on his Telegram channel on August 31.
Over the summer months, Sochi welcomed more than 3 million tourists, which became a new record for the resort. Proshunin called the growth of tourist flow, especially among families with children, the main indicator of confidence in the resort.
“By the end of 2024, Sochi will reach a tourist flow of 8 million people. This can be seen in the dynamics of recent months and in new bookings.”The mayor noted. The resort also saw significant growth in 2023, welcoming 7.6 million tourists, an increase of almost 6% compared to the previous year.
At the same time, 17 new hotels were opened this year, with a total number of rooms reaching 75,580 and a capacity of 150,558 guests. Sanatoriums and boarding houses with treatment remained the most popular accommodation establishments, but other hospitality establishments also showed high occupancy.
As of August 1, 2024, 322.6 million rubles have been collected from tourist fees in Sochi. During the peak summer season, 50 thousand specialists worked in the hotel industry, including 3 thousand medical workers in sanatoriums and hotels with a medical profile.
