The situation in which politics influences sports will change. This opinion was expressed by Paralympic champion in athletics Tatyana Yakibchuk on August 31 in a comment to RIA Novosti Crimea.
“A person who chooses a great sport dedicates his whole life to it. When you are ready and they say no, it hurts.”“Yakibchuk shared.
It was previously reported that Crimean Paralympians were denied permission to compete at the Olympics.
Sevastopol athlete Andrei Granichka was unable to take part in the Paralympic Games. Along with Andrey, Crimean tennis player Victoria Safronova suffered a similar fate.
According to Russia’s honored coach Irina Mashchenko, who has been training with Andrei for many years, the athlete learned about the refusal to participate literally at the last moment, when the rest of the team members had already received visas.
He also believes that the alleged reason for the refusal was the athletes’ place of birth and residence.
The Russian side has already asked the International Paralympic Committee and the Organising Committee of the Games to reconsider this decision, but there is little hope for a positive outcome.
