In the Shestakovsky forest district of the village of Vladimirovka, 1,200 pine and larch seedlings were planted as part of the regional stage of the annual all-Russian autumn campaign “Save the Forest” by activists of the republic’s leadership and residents of Yakutsk, the press service of the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reported on August 31.
“This is a very noble action, which demonstrates care for the environment and love for our native republic”said the head of the region, Aisen Nikolaev.
This year, for the fifth time, the All-Russian autumn campaign “Save the Forest” is being held in Yakutia. During this time, more than 31 thousand seedlings of pines, birches and larches were planted on the territory of Yakutia on an area of 17 hectares.
Let us remind you that the All-Russian campaign “Save the Forest” is the world’s largest reforestation and forest climate project with the participation of volunteers to restore forests lost due to fires, deforestation and other negative factors, as well as to increase the absorption capacity of forests to reduce the carbon footprint. The action is carried out within the framework of the federal project “Forest Conservation” of the national project “Ecology”.
As part of their forest planning, volunteers have set an ambitious goal of planting 5 billion trees by 2030 to increase greenhouse gas and carbon capture.
