A forest fire covering an area of 10 hectares has been extinguished in the Kobyaisky ulus, the press service of the head of Yakutia reported on September 1.
At the beginning of the day, four forest fires were reported in the territory of the republic covering an area of 75,031 hectares and two landscape fires covering an area of more than 5,000 hectares.
Forest fire fighting activities continue in the Vilyuisky, Suntarsky, Anabarsky and Kobyaisky uluses.
366 people and 26 wheeled and tracked vehicles are involved in extinguishing the fire. Aircraft are operating in the skies over Yakutia.
Recall that 2021 has become the most catastrophic year in terms of fires for Russian forests since 2001. In Yakutia alone, the total area of forest fires amounted to about 8.5 million hectares or 85 thousand square kilometers. This is the largest loss due to forest fires in Russia in recent decades.
