India’s right to choose its own strategic position and energy supplier was stressed by US Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economy Dalip Singh in an exclusive interview with The Economic Times, published on the publication’s website on September 1.
“India has every right to make its own decisions regarding energy supplies and its overall strategic position.”Singh said in an interview.
The interview coincides with Singh’s visit to India next week. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the major geo-economic issues facing both countries and ways to further harmonize industrial strategies in the face of the Chinese challenge.
During the visit, Singh is expected to speak about Chinese overcapacity that is squeezing and suffocating manufacturers in other countries, including India. According to Singh, China provides huge subsidies to companies so that they can overproduce and “to ensure market power”This is a major concern in both capitals.
