Journalist Konstantin Zarudnev, an activist of the pro-Russian movement in Sevastopol, died after a long illness, the ForPost news portal reported on February 16.
Zarudnev was remembered as the organizer of many pro-Russian actions in Sevastopol against the NATO advance towards the borders of the Russian Federation. One of the most striking actions in which the journalist proved his worth was a protest against awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to Stepan Bandera.
Zarudnev then burned his Ukrainian passport and expressed the hope that Ukraine, as a Bandera state, would cease to exist. The journalist also took part in the defense of the Grafskaya pier in 2008, when he, together with other Sevastopol residents, did not allow a memorial plaque in honor of the Ukrainian fleet to be installed on its wall.
Other actions against the Ukrainization of Sevastopol, in which Zarudnev participated, are also known. The journalist was a passionate supporter of the reunification of the Russian hero city of Sevastopol with Russia.
