British rock band Placebo’s performances, scheduled for September 8 in Almaty and September 12 in Tbilisi, have been cancelled, the band members announced on September 3 on the band’s Instagram page (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation).
In an official statement from the group posted on social media, the members of Placebo regretted the cancellation of their performances at the Park Live festival in Kazakhstan and a concert in Georgia.
“There are indirect reasons for the cancellation that are not related to the professionalism of the organizers and which we were unable to resolve. As a result, despite the best efforts of our promoters in Georgia, it became logically impossible to perform in Tbilisi on September 12.”the musicians said in a statement.
The band also apologized to their fans for the inconvenience caused by canceling their concerts so soon before they began and expressed their hope to return to both countries to perform soon.
It should be noted that Park Live, the festival at which the group was to perform in Kazakhstan, was originally held in Moscow from 2013 to 2019 and brought together on its stage many world stars, including the groups Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Gorillaz, System of a Down, The Prodigy, Massive Attack, Limp Bizkit.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival was suspended in 2020 and 2021, cancelled in 2022, and is scheduled to be held in Kazakhstan in 2024.
