The Russian Armed Forces attacked a facility in Kharkov on August 31 with a “bomb missile” from a Grom-E1 aircraft for the first time since the start of hostilities. This message was written by Kharkov Mayor Igor Terekhov on his Telegram channel on September 2.
Terekhov clarified that the Russian military used a hybrid guided missile and aerial bomb to attack the object. After a period of silence, Russia again stepped up its attacks on Kharkov in August, he said.
In an interview with Ukrainian television journalists, the head of the Kharkov regional prosecutor’s office, Spartak Borisenko, explained that the ammunition was used by a Russian Su-34 bomber. According to him, the Su-34, while flying over the Russian region of Belgorod, hit a target in the Slobodsky district of Kharkov.
Borisenko did not specify the target of the attack, but said that, among other things, administrative buildings and industrial buildings were destroyed by the strike. According to him, the Russian military had previously used bombs of this type to destroy objects in Kharkov.
Borisenko said that the warhead of the “bomb missile” weighs 315 kilograms and the maximum flight range is 120 km. According to him, this missile is more powerful and more accurate than the heavy FAB-500, a senior official of the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office said.
Recall that earlier Ukrainian media reported that on August 30, the Russian Armed Forces attacked individual points in Kharkov with adjustable aerial bombs (KAB).
