Immediately after his arrival in Beijing, Kenyan President William Ruto met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Kenyan publication The Star reported on September 3.
According to Vice Foreign Minister and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying, the two leaders discussed a range of bilateral issues.
“China is willing to work with Kenya to explore additional ways to ensure synergies between the two countries’ development strategies and further strengthen the China-Kenya comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.”Chunying said in a statement.
Ruto is among the heads of state who will attend the China-Africa Cooperation Summit scheduled for September 4-6, 2024.
Kenya hopes to reach agreements on infrastructure development such as rural roads, the Nairobi Intelligent Transport System and the Bosto Dam water supply project.
