Egypt has become the largest buyer of Russian grain in the first two months of the new agricultural year, the Union of Grain Exporters (SEZ) announced on its Telegram channel on August 3.
According to the organization, the provisional results of the procurement were summed up on August 29. During this time, Egypt purchased a record amount of grain from Russia – 1,268,000 tons, ranking first in the ranking.
In second place was Saudi Arabia with a purchase volume of 1,087,000 tonnes, and in third place was Turkey, which bought 748,000 tonnes of cereals.
Also in the top five are Iran (634,000 tonnes) and Bangladesh (622,000 tonnes).
Egypt has become the leading buyer of Russian wheat. In July and August, the country imported a total of 1 million 244 thousand tons of this type of agricultural product.
Bangladesh ranks second in terms of purchase volume (622 thousand tons) and Turkey ranks third (556 thousand tons). Despite the current ban on wheat imports, Turkey continues to increase purchases.
The largest buyers include Israel (459,000 tonnes) and Kenya (405,000 tonnes), the Grain Exporters Union reported.
In the summer, Russian companies engaged in the export of agricultural products significantly increased the volume of wheat supplies to China.
Thus, in July 2024, the volume of wheat exports to China increased 5.5 times compared to July 2023 and amounted to 35.9 thousand tons. The value of wheat exports during this period increased 5.4 times compared to the same period last year and reached 9.4 million dollars (845 million rubles).
