A resident of Yevpatoria has been sent to trial on charges of repeatedly driving while intoxicated and attempting to give a bribe, the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea reported on September 3.
According to the investigation, the defendant already had a criminal record for drunk driving, but in June of this year, after drinking alcohol, he got back behind the wheel of his Cadillac.
He was stopped by traffic police officers on one of the city streets and during the check he refused to undergo a medical examination.
In order to avoid criminal liability for repeated drunk driving, he attempted to transfer funds in foreign currency to the police in the amount of more than 47 thousand rubles.
Law enforcement officials rejected this illegal offer.
After all the data was collected and with an indictment prepared and approved, the criminal case was sent to the Yevpatoria City Court for further consideration.
