Crimean law enforcement officers have detained suspects in the theft of factory equipment worth about 3 billion rubles, the press service of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Crimea reported on September 3.
Employees of the Investigative Unit for the Investigation of Organized Criminal Activities of the Investigative Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea, in cooperation with colleagues from the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption and Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea, detained a group of three persons on suspicion of theft of property located on the leased territory of the Kerch seaport Kamysh-Burun.
According to preliminary information, the detainees, who live in Moscow, Leningrad and Ivanovo regions, acted according to a previously prepared plan.
The value of the stolen equipment and damage caused to the Russian State Development Corporation is estimated at about 3 billion rubles.
The investigative authorities opened a criminal case based on Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and all members of the criminal group were detained.
The necessary investigations are currently underway and several forensic examinations have been ordered.
