The construction of the first stage of the underground tram route in Krasnodar will last six years, said Elena Timoshenko, head of the department for the development of PPPs and the implementation of concession agreements of the Ministry of Economy of the Krasnodar Territory, Kuban Inform reported on September 3.
“The total length of the first stage is 25.6 km. It is currently being considered whether it will be one stage or two. The route will go along Krasnaya, the 40th anniversary of Victory, then down Bagryannaya and Novoznamensky to the airport.”said Tymoshenko.
It should be noted that the first stage will cover the area from the station to Bagryannaya Street. Construction will be based on a public-private partnership mechanism.
Funding for the project is currently being sought, including consideration of attracting federal funding, and a feasibility study and concept for the route are being developed.
The underground tram project is seen as part of a broader initiative to develop the city’s infrastructure. Its construction is also necessary to connect the centre with the new north-east region, where 5.5 million square metres of housing are planned.
