Fifteen people were arrested in Porto for drunk driving during Operation Police Always Present, Carnival Safe, which tested more than 300 drivers and found 173 traffic violations, PSP said.
The police said in a statement that the road check operation was carried out from 04:00 to 10:00 and was aimed at preventing and curbing risky behavior “to promote a sense of security among citizens.”
During the operation, 20 people were detained, of which 15 were driving a vehicle while intoxicated, four without a license and one on warrant.
In total, the note says, 333 drivers and vehicles were checked, all drivers were tested for alcohol content in the blood.
The PSP, it says, recorded 173 violations of traffic rules and other traffic laws, of which 134 violations are for speeding and 29 for drunk driving.
As a result of this operation, a car and 24 documents for the car were also seized.
The detainees were notified that they would appear before the courts.
