Canada will supply four more Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion, bringing its contribution to eight, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday.
During a press conference, Trudeau said: “Canada stands in solidarity with Ukraine from the very beginning of the conflict… and it will continue.”
New sanctions were announced against 129 people, including ministers and deputies who voted for the Russian invasion, and 63 entities located mainly in the defense sector.
On the other hand, more than 32 million Canadian dollars (22 million euros) in aid was also announced to Ukraine “to ensure the security and stabilization of the country.”
The new measures were introduced shortly after the US announced, in agreement with G7 members, an extensive volley of sanctions against the Russian Federation on the occasion of the passage of a year since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. .
