The body of a 62-year-old Mozambican man was found floating in the fishing port of Olhão in Faro district this Sunday, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) said.
After a warning from a member of the public, at 9:30 a.m., authorities mobilized the maritime police and the Olhao rescue station, who removed the body from the water.
In an interview with Lusa, Harbor Master Olhão Alexander Algarvio said that “the body was identified” based on the documents he had in his possession.
“We were able to identify the body. This is a 62-year-old Mozambican man living in Olhão,” he specified.
According to the same source, “there were no visible signs of violence on the body, the cause of death is unknown.”
The corpse was taken to the Medico-Legal Institute in Faro to determine the cause of death.
