Former Brazilian Workers’ Party (PT) adviser Reginaldo Camilo dos Santos, better known as Zezinho, was assassinated this Friday in Jandira, Sao Paulo.
According to the Metropolitan Civil Guard, the alarm was raised at 17:25 local time (21:25 in Lisbon).
Witnesses brought by the globeit is reported that a car stopped next to the 51-year-old former adviser, and the driver fired at point-blank range.
The cause of the crime has yet to be ascertained, but according to the globe former city councilor of Jandira was the author several complaints about white-collar crimes, recently denouncing a corruption scheme at City Hall.
In 2020, he was a candidate for the post of head of the municipality of Jandir, finishing in third place and managing to take the position of councillor.
Also this year, the 51-year-old victim ran for federal deputy in the city on October 2, but was not elected.
Last week, several images were posted on social media showing him campaigning for PT’s Fernando Haddad, a gubernatorial candidate, and Luiz Inacio Lulu da Silva, a Brazilian presidential candidate.
