The “Master of the Arctic” exhibition, dedicated to International Polar Bear Day, opened on February 27 at the State Russian Museum of the Arctic and Antarctic in St. Petersburg, TASS reports.
In the exhibition, visitors will be able to view archival photographs taken by members of the Soviet polar expeditions.
“These are not staged photographs or official shots, these are just images taken by Soviet researchers at the Arctic stations where polar bears live. For example, there is a photograph of the Svalbard station or a photograph of one of the employees of the SP-22 station.– said the curator of the exhibition Irina Karpenko.
The exhibition was supplemented by objects donated to the museum by the Leningrad Zoo and the Imperial Porcelain Factory.
“The Imperial Porcelain Factory presented classic works that are the trademark of St. Petersburg: figurines by Boris Vorobyov “Polar Bears”. One of his figurines has been produced since 1956 until now”, adds the curator of the exhibition.
