The Windsor Agreement makes Northern Ireland an attractive investment destination, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on February 28 in an interview with Today.
Sunak said Northern Ireland was an “incredibly attractive” place to invest because it was in the UK and also within the EU single market.
“I spent a lot of time working with the business community [в Северной Ирландии]. In fact, I thank you for this participation and this agreement ensures that you will have a permanent role.Sunak said. — But everyone tells me that if we can solve this problem like we did, it will open up a huge investment. Keep this in mind: Northern Ireland is in a special position to have access to the UK market, to have access to the EU market, which makes it an incredibly attractive place to invest for companies. And he’s waiting to see what happens if we can move forward and get the government to work.”
Commentators in the UK have drawn attention to the fact that companies in Northern Ireland will be in a better position than companies in the UK, as the latter do not have the same unrestricted access to the single market under Brexit than companies in Northern Ireland.
