A 55-year-old woman died on Tuesday in an accident on the Vasco da Gama bridge. The fatal victim was outside the car, which was blocked in the left lane from north to south due to a “clear malfunction”.
According to an official source from the GNR in Setúbal, the woman was picked up and thrown in the opposite direction. Death was pronounced on the spot.
The driver who hit her is a man who suffered minor injuries and was taken to the San José Hospital in Lisbon.
The accident occurred around 12:08, 12 operators supported by four vehicles.
Movement is conditional on the bridge, on the right lane, in both directions.
