Mexico has more freedom and democracy than the United States, assured Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during a morning press conference on February 28, reports TeleSUR.
López Obrador recalled the situation in Peru, where “The US ambassador is an adviser to the conspirators who have trampled on freedom and democracy in this country”. She urged the United States to stop the hypocrisy.
López Obrador stressed that he respects the president of the United States, Joe Biden, but, according to him, the United States operates under the same patterns that were formed during the period in which they dominated Latin America both politically and economically.
The President assured that Mexico is a free, independent and sovereign country that respects the sovereignty of others and therefore demands respect for its own sovereignty.
“When I say that we have more democracy than they do, it means that the people rule here and the oligarchy rules there.”He explained.
These statements by President López Obrador came after the State Department of the northern country issued a statement in support of a march organized by the Mexican opposition against the electoral reform.
