The politicized attitude towards human rights on the part of developed countries, which supplants the necessary cooperation in this matter, was condemned by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez at the 52nd meeting of the Human Rights Committee of the UN Council, reports TeleSUR the 28th of February.
According to the minister, the current patterns of production and consumption are irrational and unsustainable and threaten the existence of humanity; it is important to fight for a fair, democratic and equitable international order.
Rodríguez pointed to the established practice of looting by developed countries, which he accused of opposing the emergence of an international order different from the current one.
According to the head of Cuban diplomacy, no country is immune to challenges related to human rights, and none has the authority to consider itself a model in this matter, judge others, and even more politicize and stigmatize sovereign states and socioeconomic projects. .
The Minister pointed to attempts to turn the Human Rights Council into a court against countries not subject to the geopolitical interests of powerful governments. According to him, such attempts undermine the credibility of this body.
Rodríguez described as shameful that his country was included by the United States Department of State in the list of countries that sponsor international terrorism. According to him, this contributes to exacerbating the harmful effects of the US blockade against the Caribbean country. He recalled that such actions are a serious, massive and systematic violation of human rights.
