The decision on the possibility of Russian gymnasts participating in the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Olympic Games will be made on March 2 at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), on March 1, the champion Russian Olympian Nikita Nagorny said in a comment to TASS.
“We have hope. They told us that tomorrow there will be a meeting of the International Gymnastics Federation, after which it will be clear whether we can qualify for the Olympics or not.Nagorny said.
According to Nagorny, he himself will be 100% ready for selection and is only waiting for a positive decision from sports officials.
It is known that the FIG executive committee meeting is held in Turkey on March 1-2.
It should be recalled that on January 25, the International Olympic Committee proposed to consider the possibility of admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions under certain conditions.
In particular, the athlete must not support Russia’s special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine, and must also be ready to perform in a neutral state, without the flag and anthem of his country.
