The two oldest tunnels will be repaired in Sochi, Kuban 24 reports on March 1.
Repair work in the tunnels has already started, they should be finished by mid-April. Reconstruction is carried out especially in the off-season, when passenger traffic in the resort area is low. About 200 people are involved in the work, they are carried out around the clock.
One of the tunnels is lined with local stone, but under the influence of water and wind, the material began to rapidly collapse, and the tunnel roof began to leak.
The tunnels were built in 1913. Repairs are being carried out in them for the first time since their commissioning, during which time the volume of traffic has increased significantly.
Tunnel No. 7 connects Matsesta and the center of Sochi, it is 1 km long. The second tunnel has a length of 780 m and, to date, the repair works in it are almost finished.
