The Chairman of the Kherson Region Government Andrey Alekseenko announced on March 1 in an interview with TASS.
Alekseenko said that the launch of maritime communication is essential for the economy of the Kherson region, it will become the same engine for the development of the region as the start of railway communication and road repair for automobile communication.
The Kherson region and the Crimean peninsula have been connected by bus routes since July 2022: regular passenger bus routes have been established, as well as rail communication is being established, the start of which is planned in test mode from on July 1, 2023.
The railway line will connect the cities of Genichesk, Dzhankoy, Simferopol, Evpatoria and Kerch, the acting governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo announced on February 27. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, confirmed his readiness to do everything possible for the implementation of railway communication between Crimea and the Kherson region. According to Aksyonov, the Crimean company will be engaged in transportation.
However, the Crimean chief stressed that security remains difficult and one of the main problems today.
