A 90-year-old woman died this Wednesday after being burned in a domestic stove accident in Ponte de Sor, in the Portalegre district, a GNR source told Lusa.
According to the same source, the elderly woman allegedly fiddled with the stove in her kitchen after the fire engulfed her but did not spread to the house.
The accident happened on Estrada da Tramaga at about 12:30 p.m., and a relative found the woman already dead, a security source said.
The judicial police were called to the scene, but since there was no suspicion of a crime, the body has already been handed over to the family, the HP source added.
Contacting Lusa, the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Defense Command said that six firefighters from the Ponte de Sor Corporation were also mobilized for the event, supported by three vehicles.
