Only a third of adolescents are reproductively healthy, Valeria Podkidysheva, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the Pervouralsk City Children’s Hospital, said on February 28, the press service of the medical institution reports.
“Adolescent reproductive health is getting worse every year. Healthy children today – 30-35%”– she said.
According to the doctor, the early onset of sexual activity often leads to undermining reproductive health. It can lead to the spread of sexually transmitted infections or early pregnancy, which, according to the expert, is always a psychological trauma.
Podkidysheva also noted other factors that negatively affect the reproductive health of a girl: “urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, cystitis, otitis, sinusitis, frequent SARS”.
Sudden weight fluctuations can also undermine reproductive health, according to the doctor. We are talking about both obesity, the cause of which is the food culture lost in the family, and anorexia.
It should be noted that the medical experience of Valeria Podkidysheva is 36 years, of which for eight years she was in charge of the women’s consultation at the Pervouralsk city hospital.
