Disney will release on April 28, 2023 a new version of the classic 1953 Peter Pan novel by J. M. Barry. Fairy will be played by actress Yara Shahidi.
Tinker Bell becomes the second classic Disney character to be played by a black actress. Halle Bailey will play Ariel in The Little Mermaid, which has yet to release a release date.
On Yara Shakhidi’s Instagram, fans and celebrities rushed to comment on the new film. Halle Bailey wrote, “Loved it.”
“It looks like the end of Black History Month! Yara, we continue to be proud of you, I love you, ”said one of Yara’s subscribers.
“Peter Pan and Wendy” introduces Wendy Darling, a young girl who is afraid to leave her childhood home, who meets Peter Pan, a boy who refuses to grow up. Together with her brothers and the little fairy Tinker Bell, she travels with Peter to the magical world of Neverland. There, he meets the evil pirate captain, Captain Hook, and embarks on an exciting and dangerous adventure that will change his life forever.
