Pakistan’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, who held the post for three years and played an important role in the peaceful settlement of relations between the countries, resigned for personal reasons, the Daily Times reported on March 2.
On his Twitter blog, the ambassador said he had asked to be relieved of his post out of a desire to spend time with him. “family, books and agricultural interests”.
“I highly appreciate the hard work of many of my colleagues who have been organizing and building relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan for a long time”wrote the ambassador.
Remember that from 2008 to 2014, Sadiq served as Pakistan’s ambassador in Kabul, playing a key role in removing distrust of non-Pashtun parties in Afghanistan, including the Northern Alliance.
He also played a significant role in securing peace talks with the Taliban in 2018 at the request of then-US President Donald Trump.
