The project to build a small modular reactor (SMR) was discussed by representatives of the South Korean company Hyundai Engineering with the government of Alberta in Canada, Business Korea reported on March 2.
Hyundai Engineering CEO Hong Hyun-song held talks with Northern Minister of Labour, Economy and Development Brian Jin and Alberta Minister of Trade, Immigration and Multiculturalism Rajan Soni, who visited Hyundai headquarters.
Alberta provincial government officials have expressed interest in a project to build SMR to achieve zero emissions by 2050. The Alberta government is actively involving Hyundai Engineering in this project.
At the headquarters of Hyundai Engineering, the parties discussed a plan for cooperation on the construction of small model reactors with a capacity of 100 MW.
